Manager, Government Affairs
The successful candidate will be part of a team responsible for lobbying activities supporting Conduent State Government and Transportation business units. As a member of the GGA team, the manager will participate in strategic and tactical decisions on issues important to Conduent through working relationships and communication with legislators, Conduent lobbyists and other elected and appointed officials. The Manager of Government Affairs will develop and implement Conduent government affairs strategic direction in the areas of business development, procurement and resolution of complex contract issues. They will possess excellent communications and collaborative skills; be creative, confident and have a history of solving complex government and business problems.
As a member of the Conduent Government Affairs team, background in the government procurement process at the state and local levels is critical, as well as demonstrated knowledge of (preferably experience in) the following areas:
Political consultant management and/or experience as a political consultant
The political process and the interaction of legislative & executive processes at all levels of government
The interface of government affairs and public affairs/media
- The IT services industry
Organizational interface with corporate management, sales, operations
- Crisis and Issues Management
- Legislative and Policy development
The Manager, Conduent Government Affairs will possess demonstrated ability to effectively manage complex issues and legislation through understanding of government process in the arenas of procurement, politics and public policy.
The Manager must possess the ability to build and maintain internal and external partnerships to effectively communicate within the company and its relevant internal organizations, as well as the ability to translate complex concepts and issues and to manage multiple tasks while meeting frequent deadlines. The Manager must have the ability to work both independently and as an integral member of the Conduent Government Affairs team.
The ideal candidate will hold a bachelor’s degree and six years of relevant experience, preferably with specific knowledge and experience in business process and information technology.
- Excellent interpersonal skills
Experience in working and communicating (written and orally) with other professional staff required
Excellent computer and Internet skills
Demonstrated knowledge of Microsoft SharePoint, MS Office (Excel, PowerPoint, Word, Access), WebEx, document management systems and web development strongly desired
Ability to adapt to changing environment, multitask assignments and approach problems with a sense of ownership, enthusiasm, flexibility and innovation required.
A leader with a high level of initiative and independent thinking with a minimal level of direct supervision required.
Candidate should be committed to high-quality service, have the ability to work quickly with attention to detail.
